Our client, a leading international business headquartered in London, is seeking an Expense Business Partner. This role will work within the Business Partnering function of a Finance Department for a UK Group of companies operating in the Lloyd's of London insurance market.
This is a permanent opportunity with a mixture of hybrid work, with their offices located in the City of London.
They are also open to speaking with applicants who are open to contract work. This role is open a 9-month FTC also.
THE ROLE
The main responsibility of the Expense Business Partner role is the production of expense budgets and quarterly expense reporting. It is extremely client facing, with direct interaction with all department heads and presentation to senior management. Effective, strong relationships with stakeholders will be essential.
MAIN RESPONSIBILITIES:
Quarterly GAAP accounting and reporting process
*Quarterly review with budget holders to ensure YTD expenditure and accrual/prepayment decisions are appropriate
*Process quarterly recharges from the service company (Chaucer Underwriting Services Ltd), to syndicates and other corporate entities
*Review the appropriateness of splits to claims handling or acquisition cost lines
*Assist the Senior Expense Business Partner in the understanding of variances and the reporting of initial early sights of GAAP and YOA reported expenses through to final actual external reporting
Budget setting and reforecasting
*Production of the detailed annual budget
*Producing suitable reporting of expense composition and commentary on variances
*Presentations to senior management of the budget, with suitable analysis to understand composition, variances and review challenges made. The presentations should also highlight key risk areas or relevant trending of expenses
Quarterly management information on underwriting year / Year of account
*Allocation of approved budgets and actual expenses down to the required class level for the purposes of management review on an underwriting year basis
*Ensure the allocation process is transparent, well understood and agreed with the key stakeholders
*Track the development of the ultimate expense forecasts, to ensure it is updated with actual experience and updated expectations
REGULATORY RESPONSIBILITIES
Regulatory Reporting
*Produce required expense reporting within the Syndicate Business Plan (SBF)
*Produce the required cash flow expense reporting for SII technical provision projections
RELEVANT EXPERIENCE
Essential
*Experience in preparing budgets and expense analysis
*Experience in expense controls and processes
Desirable
*Insurance industry exposure
*Knowledge of UKGAAP/USGAAP
*Lloyd's of London accounting
*Knowledge of Oracle PeopleSoft
*Knowledge of Excel VBA
EDUCATION AND QUALIFICATIONS
Essential
* Chartered Accountant (ACA/CIMA/ACCA)
